There have only been a few decades of music education at the oldest university of Hungary, but since we have become an authentic participant of the cultural, scientific, and artistic life of the Faculty of Humanities.

By the transformation of the structure of education our students could also be involved in the work of the human professional areas, which were in the closest connection with arts. The successful accreditation of the degree programs (BA, MA, and the so called Undivided teacher training) made the cooperation possible with other faculties of ELTE. English language programs of different courses are available as well.

Our choirs have already achieved excellent results in numerous competitions in Hungary and abroad including the Grand Prix of Grado (Italy), Lindenholzhausen (Germany) – and also several first prizes. The choirs give concerts regularly in Europe in different cities of Austria, France, Germany, Slovenia, and Switzerland among others, but it also took part in a university festival in Tunisia.

The next significant change in our life happened in 2019 when the former Music Department, since its instructors gained the required qualification (a professor for leading the unit and further two colleagues with habilitation), became an independent institute of the Faculty named as Institute of Arts Communication and Music!
